Larry Johnson 8th March 2010

Fred - Good memories - Conversations on our patio, at Borders, at Starbucks, over lunch at Viva La Pasta - always lots of topics to cover: current books being read and borrowed, stories about travels, past and present political mess-ups, medical updates - advances/set-backs, which doctors to see and which to avoid, how many doctors we have and share, travel stories, people met on airplanes (Mark and Henry Kissinger?, Fred and Julian Blackwell, Chairman of the Blackwell Group including their great bookstore Fred and Larry had both enjoyed in England - with Fred giving Larry Julian Blackwell's coveted business card to keep!), good movies(even some not British and most ones Fred and Larry couldn't hear and didn't need to), getting bangers and a pint at the Crown & Anchor Bobby Burns night, sunset stops at Mugu Rock beach, a behind the scene's tour of the Reagan Library due to Fred's insider connection with the Director, stories of super children and grandchildren, etc. etc. Fred - the only guy we know that needed 27 initials after his name to note his academic and professional pedigree! He was undoubtedly a high level expert in his field of study and work only a bit of which we could grasp. However, his down to earth friendship, inspiring strength of spirit and always good humor we understood very well as the great gifts they were to us. God bless Fred as we are blessed to have known him, Larry & Sally Johnson
